TYPE OF COMPANY
The Marcoccio family run a mixed farm, involved in such activities as cattle raising, sheep farming and the cultivation of olive groves and vineyards. The olive-groves have been in the family for generations and are fertilised solely with natural products. The olives are all harvested by hand and are then pressed in the family olive mill – completely renovated in 2005 – using the ancient technique of millstones, assisted by mechanical presses. The flocks are left free to graze in the hills of the Serra Lunga mountain range, feeding exclusively on the natural vegetation of the local area. Their milk is then used to produce dairy products in the farm’s own dairy. The Marcoccio farm enterprise also has a wine cellar, where the grapes from the family vineyards are processed. These native vineyards have recently been reclaimed, and have history dating back more than fifty years. The autochthonous varieties include Pampanaro, Giulia and Mecella grapes. Finally, all the products from the farm enterprise are sold to the public at the farm shop.
