THE TERRITORY
Much of the land on the Mazzi Mirella farm is volcanic in origin, formed after the eruption of the volcano on the current site of Lake Bolsena. The area is mainly hilly, ranging from 200 to 500 metres above sea level, and is crisscrossed by various rivers and streams that have eroded the hillsides to form little ravines.
There are various cultural and natural attractions nearby. In the municipality of Ischia di Castro, you can visit the ruins of the ancient city of Castro and the Civic Museum, which houses exhibits from the Eneolithic Age to the Renaissance.
Sites of natural interest include the Lamone Nature Reserve in the municipality of Farnese, where you can admire many varieties of orchid.
